Who: All staff is required to attend this mandatory training
When: From Thursday July 5 at 6:30 pm till Saturday July 7th at 6:30pm. This is a sleepover event, you will be expected to stay at camp and take part in all aspects of training. There will be an optional sleepover Saturday night into Sunday July 8th (which is our first day of camp).

Now Hiring for SumMer 2018!
Camp Tanner is in the process of hiring for all roles this summer!
Camp Tanner Inc. is an overnight camp which runs 6 weeks of summer camps and a weekend camp on May Long Weekend. We are an accredited member of The United Church of Canada and The Ontario Camping Association. Again, this year we are seeking staff who wish to take part in our summer camps and experience positive leadership development and work with young people ages 7-15. Staff will be hired on weekly contracts that run from Sundays to Friday night, in which they will live at Camp Tanner while they work.
Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following requirements:
· Previous leadership and/ or camping experience
· Education and/or experience working with children and youth
· Standard First Aid with CPR – C certification
· Current vulnerable sector police check
· Positive teamwork and communication skills
· Interest in youth program development and facilitation
· Ability to work with/without supervision
· Preference to candidates who can commit to working 6 weeks
· Staff must be committed to attending ALL training sessions and pre-camp meetings offered by Camp Tanner Inc.

Positions To Be Filled
Counsellor- Must be 17 years old (born 2001), completion of the CIT program an asset
-supervise a cabin of campers (between 4-8 campers), plan activities for campers to take part in
Counsellor in Training (CIT)- must be 16 years old (born 2002)
-This is a volunteer role! Take part in the CIT program, learn how to be a great staff member, shadow a counselor and assist in supervising campers and running activities.
Changes To Roles!
As past staff will have noticed when reading through the roles listed above, there are some changes this year. A few of our higher up roles have been adjusted to provide more leadership and more distinct jobs. We have clarified a few roles and split previous roles into more people to provide more support this year. Firstly, we will have a Camp Director. This person will oversee all roles at camp. They will assist and support in whatever capacity is needed. Next we have changed the 2 program director roles and the CIT director role to make 3 equal leveled roles. These roles are the Program director (overseeing programs, schedules and special programs), the camper director (overseeing camper problems, discipline and dismissal), and the CIT and Staffing Director (overseeing the CIT program, and both counsellor and CIT issues). Included below is a new diagram that visually will show how our new staff hierarchy will look. If you have any questions feel free to ask Christina Husband, our new staffing chair.
Staff please take note that most of our planning and communications will happen through Facebook. We have one main staff planning group for 2018 as well as a group for Sr. Staff, one for CIT's & new staff and one for each of our 6 weeks of summer. These groups are all private so you will not be able to see it unless you have been added by someone in the group. Groups will be opened as soon as staff applications are all in.
