How Does Drop off & Pick Up At Camp Tanner work?
If you're new to Camp Tanner you may be wondering how our drop off and pick up procedures work. Well look no further. Each week at Camp Tanner runs from Sunday at 3 pm until Friday's at 7pm. When you arrive at Camp Tanner for these drop off and pick up times you will be looking for our mess hall. Please park your car and walk over to the picnic tables on our mess hall porch. This is where our registration line will be. There is parking either in the grass along the left side of the lane or in our small gravel parking lot. Please do NOT drive your car all the way up the lane to the cabins. We will have people walking on this part of the lane and that poses a danger.

Su nday DRop Off & RegistrationIf you're new to Camp Tanner, you may be wondering what a Sunday at Camp Tanner is like! We start our week off with Registration on Sundays, running from 3-4 pm.
Once you arrive at camp, drive up the driveway and you can park anywhere on the grass along the road. Once you have found a parking spot, you can continue to the Mess Hall porch. The Mess Hall is a large building with a porch beside the large white Medical Trailer. At 3 o'clock, we will have 3 sections set up along the picnic tables on the porch: Merchandise, Sign-In, and Medical. Starting at the end of the porch closest to the parking area, parents and campers will work their way through these stations before heading up to the cabin with one of our staff members. Merchandise: At our merchandise table, we have Camp Tanner shirts and cookbooks available for purchase. Camp Tanner shirts come in lime green, blue, red, and orange and are available in youth and adult sizes. They are $15 each and are also available for purchase at the end of the week. Our Camp Tanner cookbooks contain some of our great recipes from camp and more! They are available for $16 or 2 for $30. Sign-In: At our Sign-In station the week's Directors will have parents or guardians sign their children in, in our Sign-In Log. They will then ask parents to sign a Photo Release form. This form states that any photos taken of your child can be used on our website or Facebook for promotional purposes only. No names will be included with these pictures. However, if you are uncomfortable with this, you can abstain from signing and the staff will ensure photos aren't taken of your child. Finally, the Directors will let you know who your child's counsellor will be and what cabin they will be in. At this point, they will call over one of the staff members from your child's unit (their cabin and/or the counsellor from the cabin they're paired with) to introduce themselves and give your child a special name tag. Medical: After you speak to the Directors, you will be directed down the line to talk to Bandaid, our medical staff. She will inquire about the status of your child's health and if they have any medication that needs to be taken during the week. She will also ask if you want our group photo that is taken during the week. They are $5 each and are a great memento from the week. From there, the staff member who greeted you will bring your child around the side of the Mess Hall to get their head checked. Head checks are done to ensure that head lice isn't brought into camp and is standard procedure for all staff and campers.Once your child has been cleared for their head check, they will be brought up to their cabin and introduced to the children that are already their from their unit. |
Friday Pick UP & Sign OutCamper pick up is at 7 pm of Friday. That being said, please bear with us if we are not ready right at 7pm. We have our camper banquette just before they go home. During this campers enjoy one last meal with their friends and then we have the week's awards presentations and thank you's. Due to all the presentations to be made this can sometimes run long. It is very important to some campers that they get their prizes so we ask parents if they arrive early to please wait for this to be over before taking their child home. We also ask any parents who arrive early to please wait on the mess hall porch rather than coming inside as this causes distractions and puts us even further behind.
If you should need to pick your child up earlier than 7 pm in order to make other obligations please inform us of this in advance. Once banquette is over staff will come outside to the picnic tables on the porch of the mess hall. This will be the same location where the drop off procedures occurred. Please make an orderly line at the end of these tables and file down through the stations that will be set up. Please note: for camper's safety and to help us stay organized, please do not approach your child or try to go find your child on your own. Even if you can see them, please wait in line and our staff will bring your child to you after they are signed out. This ensures that all children do in fact get signed out. The stations that parents will have to go through for sign out are as follows: Merchandise: At our merchandise table, we have all the same merchandise we had at the begging of the week just in case you forgot money then. This includes Tanner shirts and cookbooks. Sign-Out: At our sign-out table you will see our directors who can answer any of your questions about how the week went and who will call your child over for you. While you wait for your child to be brought to you, you will be asked to sign out your child with a signature so we know they have been picked up. Medical: After you speak to the directors, you will be directed down to Bandaid, our medical staff. She will return to you any medications that you left with her on the first day. Bandaid can also speak to you if you have any concerns about your child's medical conditions throughout the week. Bandaid will also have the photos for you if you purchased one for your child. |
