Meals
All camps feature nutritionally balanced meals based on Canada's food guide. Meals are nutritious while also being delicious and kid friendly. Some camper favourites include: Mac N Cheese, Grilled Cheese, Turkey Dinner, Tacos, Hotdogs & Hamburgers, and Spaghetti. Meals are cooked by our kitchen support staff and our amazing volunteers from the churches and the communities that support us. If you are interested in volunteering to cook this summer please visit our supporters page and fill out the form to get in contact and get scheduled to help.
Allergies & Special DietsCamp Tanner is committed to the health and safety of our campers. We will try our best to accommodate campers with food allergies. In order to do this you need to make sure you fill out your campers registration form as accurately as possible so we can know to accommodate. Camp Tanner will make accommodations for vegetarian campers. We always have options for campers at meals that include meat. However campers are also welcome to bring their own alternatives. If campers have other dietary restrictions (milk, gluten, wheat, rice, corn, etc.) they are asked to look at our menu and provide options for the items that they cannot eat.
PLEASE NOTE: Camp Tanner is NOT a nut free facility! Peanut Butter is available on the table at most meals. Please take this into consideration if your child does have a peanut allergy Theme MealsWe also like to have fun while we eat. Each meal at Camp Tanner has a special theme. Sometimes themes involve dressing up for meals. Sometimes they are funny things that happen at the meal. Sometimes it's games the campers get to take part in. Meals at Camp Tanner change each year as we come up with new things to try, however we always keep some of our favourites such as: 1 utensil, ABC (anything but cups), shhhmeal, challenge meal, draft, musical chairs, survivor, and many more.

Our MenuHave a camper who is a picky eater? Worried they won't like the food. Click the link below to see what's on the menu at Camp Tanner. Our menu is packed full of nutritious and kid friendly favourites. We will always ensure campers bellies don't go empty. If a camper won't eat a meal there are alternative options available at all times. This includes things like raw veggies, fresh fruit, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, cereal and sometimes leftovers from other meals. All your camper needs to do is ask a staff and we will see what we can do. We never want a camper to go hungry. You can also send along something from home if you know there is a meal on this menu that your child won't eat.
NO elbows on the table.... ever! This is not a horse's table! But a first-class dining table! At Camp Tanner, we follow a strict, no-elbows on the dining table rule! If you are caught you will be asked to do a silly and embarrassing task, like sing a song and do a dance, or run around the flagpole! You better be careful! Don't worry, elbows can rest on the table after the table has been cleared and wiped.
